Faithbridge Fall Cleanup

On Saturday, October 27th, a local church, Faithbridge United Methodist Church sent a team to Healing Hands Ranch to help us with our fall clean up. An enthusiastic team of 30+ adults and teenagers came and painted some of our buildings and racked acres of leaves. Faithbridge has a strong missions focus and frequently goes to out into the community to do missions projects and they have supported Deaf Prison Ministries Network in many ways. We are blessed to have Faithbridge partner with us to make Healing Hands Ranch a wonderful place for Deaf ex-offenders to come and live. Thank you Faithbridge!

Special Request Recap

Last month we had an article requesting closed captioning decoders and TTYs with printers. Two people have stepped forward and donated their closed captioning decoders. The decoders will be used with our older donated televisions that do not have the built in captioning chip. We use the televisions and decoders to show Christian programs and training videos for our residents. At this time we do not need any more closed captioned decoders. Thank you Jim Dermon and Jeff McMulligan for your generous donation!

We also asked for donations of TTYs with printers and we have not recieved any yet. If you have a working TTY with a printer that you no longer need, please consider donating it to us. We have several prisons that are in need of a TTY to allow their Deaf inmates to be able to place telephone calls. We would like to help our Deaf friends in prisons to be able to make those telephone calls. It is important that the TTY you donate has a printer because many prisons record hearing prisoner's phone conversations so a printer is necessary for that purpose.

Another new thing that we are asking donations of is for sign language books. We get many letters from hearing prisoners who have a Deaf cellmate and the hearing prisoners want to learn sign language. Some of the hearing prisoners are Christians and want to learn sign language so they can share with their Deaf cellmates about Jesus. If you have any sign language books that you no longer need, please consider donating your sign language books to us so we can send them to hearing prisoners to help them improve their communication with their Deaf cellmates. We prefer soft cover sign language books because some prisons do not allow hard cover books.

If you have a TTY and/or sign language books that you would like to donate, please contact us.

HHR Needs Database: HHRneeds.org

Many people ask us every day what our needs are at Healing Hands Ranch. Our needs are always changing and the list of needs continues to grow. In response to this, we've developed a new web site that lists all of our needs so you can check from time to time what our needs are. This web site can be found at www.HHRneeds.org. There are several ways you can help us with this web site:

We have a variety of needs. Not all of them require money. Some are requests for donations of items that you might already have. Some are requests for volunteer work. For the items that have a financial need, you can make a partial donation towards that need and we will show the amount that we have received to date. We are continuously updating this database so check it often as you never know if you might find a need that you will be able to meet!

Miscellanous Ramble...

We are expecting our second resident to arrive at HHR within the next few weeks. Pray that this new resident will arrive safely and be mentally, physically and spiritually prepared to become a part of Healing Hands Ranch and start working towards a successful re-entry into society. We hope to be able to introduce to you our newest resident in our next newsletter.

If you would like to have access to any of our eNewsltter back issues, they now available on our eNewsletter sign up page.

As we enter into the holiday season, the staff and board of Deaf Prison Ministries Network would like to thank you for your continued prayers and support!
