New Entrance Sign

Healing Hands Ranch is difficult for many people to find because we're located off of a dirt road that is easy to miss. We currently have a small sign at the entrance, but the sign is hard to read from the road. Last fall, we met a deaf man, Chad Hanna (shown in photograph holding our new sign), who worked in his family's business making commercial signs. We asked him if his company, Peach Sign Company could make a new entrance sign for Healing Hands Ranch. We told Chad and his father-in-law, Tom Peach about our ministry and desire to help Deaf men as they are released from prison. After hearing our story, they said would not only make a new sign for us, but donate it to us as well.

The sign incorporates the Healing Hands Ranch logo, a circle with the letters HHR blended together. The logo is intended to look like a cattle brand logo to give it a "ranch feel". The sign measures 3' by 5' and will be mounted at the entrance of the dirt road that leads to our ranch. The sign will help people easily find our entrance. Deaf Prison Ministries Network would like to thank Chad Hanna, Tom Peach and Peach Sign Company for their generous donation!

HHR welcomes Galen

Last December, we got a phone call from Bob Blume with Man4Man Ministries who told us about a young man, Galen McCallum, needing a place to live and receive help to become re-integrated into society. Bob knew about us through his Deaf son, Jeff Jackson who is on the board of Deaf Prison Ministries Network. After reviewing Galen's application, Scott and David (our Executive Director and Program Administrator) drove 20 hours to Indiana to meet and interview Galen. We were impressed with Galen's desire to change and accepted him for placement at Healing Hands Ranch. Healing Hands Ranch is open to Deaf men from all 50 states and Galen is our first resident from out-of-state, and our second resident to date.

Galen is very happy to be at Healing Hands Ranch and looks forward to working with us to gain life skills, attend bible classes and look for a job so that he can be successfully re-integrated back into society. Healing Hands Ranch is an aftercare facility of Deaf Prison Ministries Network for Deaf men who have been released from jail or prison and need a place to live and learn how to live a Christ-centered life. We welcome Galen and ask you to remember Galen in your prayers as he goes through our program at Healing Hands Ranch.

DPMN Board Visits HHR

Deaf Prison Ministries Network had a board meeting last week in Houston, Texas. Some of our board members had never been to Healing Hands Ranch so we had the opportunity to show them HHR while they were in town. Dr. Alexis E.L. Chase (shown in left photo with HHR staff, Scott and David) is our newest board member. Dr. Chase is with the Georgia Department of Corrections as the warden of the Men's State Prison in Hardwick. There are 12 Deaf men incarcerated at her facility.

Jeff Jackson (shown in right photo with Scott) has been on the DPMN board for a year. Jeff is a pastor to the Deaf in Bakersfield, California and works with 60 Deaf men incarcerated at the California State Prison in Corcoran, California. Jeff's father, Bob Blume is also in the prison ministry with Man4Man Ministries and is the person who connected us about Galen, one of our residents (see previous article).

Both Dr. Chase and Pastor Jeff had a wonderful time visiting Healing Hands Ranch and meeting our two residents while they were in town. They left HHR inspired and with a better vision of what HHR is all about. If you ever find yourself in the Houston, Texas area, we would like to invite you to stop by and visit Healing Hands Ranch!
