About Us
Deaf Prison Ministries Network is a
non-profit 501(c)3 organization that
administers an informal network of individuals and churches who
desire to work together and minister to Deaf who are directly or indirectly
affected by crime, including organizations in the restorative process, according
to Christian principals.
Deaf Prison Ministries Network focuses its efforts in three avenues:
NETWORK: Deaf Prison Ministries Network will network with faith based
prison ministries, churches, social service agencies, government agencies,
legal organizations, Deaf advocacy organizations, and prison facilities to
promote awareness of and to meet the needs of Deaf people who are either
incarcerated, formerly incarcerated or have relatives who are either
incarcerated or formerly incarcerated.
DEVELOPMENT: Deaf Prison Ministries Network will conduct research and
develop material to be used for the purpose of promoting, educating and training
organizations or people so that they can become better equipped to meet the needs
of the Deaf who are affected by crime. The material and training will be
publicaly available to anyone who requests them.
MINISTRY: Deaf Prison Ministries Network will work with the Deaf who are
affected by crime to meet their personal, emotional, spiritual and physical needs
where legally appropriate. This will be done primarily by referring the Deaf
to the appropriate organizations and/or persons within the network. In situations
where there is no appropriate organization available to meet the needs of the
Deaf, Deaf Prison Ministries Network will work with the Deaf directly in providing
the needed support.
From these three avenues, Deaf Prison Ministries Network will become a national
point of contact for resources on working with the Deaf who are affected by
crime so that the needs of the Deaf can be effectively met on all levels of the
judical process, whether if they themselves are directly or indrectly affected
by the criminal act.
Deaf Prison Ministries Network is headquartered at Healing Hands Ranch in Willis, Texas.
