This year's conference theme is It is time for an empty nest, which will focus on the restorative process for Deaf ex-offenders after prison. This theme illustrates the process that a mother bird takes to prepare baby birds to "leave the nest" in the same way that the local church and community services organizations should get involved to prepare Deaf prisoners to "leave prison" successfully.
Facilities All of our conference meetings will be held nearby either at Emmanuel Baptist Church of the Deaf or at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Deaf.
Transportation You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to/from Columbus, Ohio. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn, the hotel provides free shuttle to/from the Port Columbus International Aiport. All transportation during the conference will be provided by our conference host. After the conference is over, transportation will be provided to the airport.
Prison Tour This year we are offering the opportunity to go to the Marion Correctional Institution approximately 1 hour north of Columbus. This tour is a wonderful way for you to meet with and provide encouragement to the Deaf prisoners who are incarcerated in Ohio. NOTE: As of September 3, 2008, the prison tour registration is now closed.
Cost The total cost of the conference includes 3 meals a day starting from Thursday dinner through Saturday breakfast and the conference registration fee. After September 14th, a late fee of $20 will apply.
